UNESCO-listed Lake Nakuru is Kenya’s most famous lake, thanks to its eye-catching population of flamingos.

The east African country is home to Lake Nakuru National Park, a 73-square-mile environment of biodiversity and beauty. The lake comprises nearly a third of the park, with this precious area being dedicated exclusively to wildlife conservation.

The park is famous for its enormous population of flamingos that take up residence along the shallow lake. There are often thousands of these creatures lining the shores, giving the lake a mirage-like appearance.

Birds aside, the park currently has around 45 black and 31 white rhinoceros, according to UNESCO. It’s also home to hippopotamus, otters, and the Rothschild's Giraffe.
